Renting a car is usually a pretty cut-and-dried process. But, sometimes, issues arise, and a seasoned traveler will want to be prepared for any hiccups or special situations. How old do you have to be to rent a car?

At Value Van, the minimum age to rent a car is 21. However, for ages 21-24, a surcharge of $15.00 per day will be applied. Additionally, the credit card holder must be at least 25, and renters under 25 (but at least 21) must cover collision with with their own insurance or a major credit card offering such coverage.

What payment methods do you accept?

Value Van accepts deposits in the following payment forms: VISA Check, VISA, Master Card, AMEX, Discover, Diners Club, Carte Blanche. Debit Cards and pre-paid cards are accepted; however, some restrictions do apply. For example, when renting with a debit card, you will need at least liability coverage on a vehicle of your own.

What is your cancellation policy?

When a rental reservation is canceled for a rental occurring during the months of July or August, or over a holiday period, a $50 cancellation fee will be charged for a car rental and a $100 fee for a van or SUV rental, if cancelled before 48 hours of rental pick-up time. If cancelled within 48 hours of rental pick-up time, you will be charged for the full amount of the rental.
