Looking for somewhere nice to spend your Thanksgiving break this year? The team at Value Van & Car Rental has some great suggestions– three, to be exact. So, pack your bags, book your car rental, and hit the road!

1. Farmingdale

The Historic Village at Allaire in Farmingdale, New Jersey, offers a look into life in an iron-producing community in the 1800s. The village offers free access and includes a bakery, general store, blacksmith shop, and more. The weekend before Thanksgiving, head to the Early 19th Century Thanksgiving, when reenactors will demonstrate what the holiday was like two centuries ago. Guests are welcomed to a special event at the village's lovely chapel. Go to Harvest Restaurant with the family for a delectable Thanksgiving supper. Skip the pumpkin pie and choose the Harvest Napoleon instead, which is a stack of apple slices covered with mascarpone cheese, cinnamon, nuts, and honey.

2. Red Bank

Plan to arrive in Red Bank the weekend before Thanksgiving if you wish to prepare your own meal. Sundays at the Galleria Red Bank Farmers Market are ideal for stocking up on the freshest, locally-grown food and getting a head start on your holiday shopping by perusing the goods being sold by a variety of merchants. Santa arrives at the Red Bank train station the day after Thanksgiving to start the parade. Keep an eye out for the Holiday Express Concert and the town's holiday illuminations when the parade reaches Broad Street.

3. Cape May

There is more to Cape May than just the summer. This charming seaside town has a rich history, and it also understands how to celebrate Thanksgiving properly. There are two enticing options for food in Congress Hall. Sit by the fire and enjoy a three-course dinner in the Blue Pig Tavern with turkey and all the fixings, or go to the Grand Ballroom for a buffet-style feast. Start your Christmas shopping at Cape May's Holiday Crafts Fair in the Convention Hall the day after Thanksgiving. Visit the Old-Fashioned Christmas Exhibit at the Carol House Gallery with the kids to see vintage toys, model trains, and other beloved holiday goods.
