New Jersey’s Grounds For Sculpture

If you’re a contemporary art lover, consider visiting Grounds For Sculpture the next time you’re in New Jersey. Grounds For Sculpture is a 42-acre landscaped sculpture park and museum located in Hamilton, New Jersey. At Grounds For Sculpture, you can enjoy the outdoor sculpture garden’s permanent collection, which currently has over 240 sculptures and increases annually by 15 sculptures. You’ll find works by renowned artists as well as up-and-coming artists from all over the world.

In addition to the outdoor permanent collection, you can also see numerous special exhibitions in the indoor gallery spaces. Going on now in the Museum Building is the sculpture series Heaven, Hell, and the History of Punch by Robert Taplin. In the Domestic Arts Building, you’ll find the Mapping Memories installation by Mark Parsons, the 2012 Artist-in-Residence at Grounds For Sculpture. Don’t forget to check out the exhibit Canutopia by Ming Fay in the East Gallery.

Location, Hours, and Admission

You’ll find Grounds For Sculpture at 126 Sculptors Way in Hamilton, New Jersey. This is just a 30-mile, 45-minute drive in your NJ car rental.

You can visit Grounds For Sculpture from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, year-round. The park is closed on Mondays and certain holidays.

Admission to the park costs $12 for adults, $10 for seniors ages 65 and older, and $8 for children ages six through 17. Admission is free for members and children ages five and under.

Tours

While you’re visiting Grounds For Sculpture, you can go on a self-guided tour of the sculpture garden and museum using maps and exhibition catalogues from the Visitor’s Center.

If you’d like to go on a guided tour, you can attend one of the free docent-led drop-in tours, no reservation required. Weekend drop-in tours are offered April through October at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Weekday drop-in tours are offered May through October at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
