Holiday Events in Newark, NJ

The holiday season can be filled with fun and festive activities in and around the Newark, NJ area. Concerts/Performances

Ready to pile your family or friends into a minivan to check out the latest holiday concert? You can find many diverse musical events in Newark that celebrate the season. Here are a few we want to share :

• Hip Hop Nutcracker: Experience a fresh take on the holiday classic at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on December 17, 2016. Rap artist Kurtis Blow, urban dancers, a DJ, and a violinist make up just a few of the performers who bring a new spin to the Nutcracker that the entire family can enjoy.
• Trans-Siberian Orchestra: Many people love attending a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert over the holidays. They'll be performing this year at the Prudential Center on December 26.
• Christmas Carol Sing: The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart is a Newark landmark and beautiful in and of itself. What better way to enjoy its beauty than to attend its annual Christmas Carol Sing on December 14 and 15, both nights starting at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.).

Other Events/Attractions

If you don't want to attend a concert but still want to attend a holiday attraction, consider some of these activities and events:

• Military Park Holiday Celebration: From lighting the Christmas tree to free carousel rides, the entire family will enjoy the celebration at Military Park. This event takes place on December 6, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
• Prudential Center Holiday Tree Lighting: Enjoy this free holiday event at the Prudential Center from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on December 6. In addition to seeing the giant tree lit up, you can also enjoy holiday music, pictures with Santa, a bouncy house, skating rink, and much more.
